2nd Clinic of Cardiac Surgery

The 2nd Clinic of Cardiac Surgery is an excellently organized and fully equipped surgical center treating the entire spectrum of cardiothoracic diseases (coronary, valves, aorta, pericardium).

It is staffed by cardiac surgeons trained in top European and American Universities (Board Certified) who have performed more than 15,000 surgical procedures.

Activities

  • Coronary artery bypass surgery with or without the use of extracorporeal circulation (beating heart)
  • Coronary artery bypass grafting with coronary endarterectomy technique (one of the largest series worldwide)
  • Surgical treatment of difficult cases, such as reoperations and low ejection fractions
  • Total arterial revascularization
  • Heart valve repair or replacement surgery (aortic – mitral – tricuspid – pulmonary)
  • Intraoperative ablation of atrial fibrillation
  • Aortic root and ascending aortic aneurysms, valved conduits – Bentall (among the largest series worldwide)
  • Surgical treatment of congenital heart defects in adults (atrial septal defect, ventricular septal defect, aortic isthmus, etc.)
  • Diseases of the aorta (ascending, arch, descending). Aneurysms, dissections, traumatic ruptures
  • Pericardial disease
  • Heart tumors (myxomas, etc.)

The department is fully equipped with all the technological instrumentation needed to carry out its most critical work, such as:

  • Fully equipped operating rooms

  • Ultrasound system for transesophageal echocardiogram
  • Cerebral oximetry
  • Monitor for continuous cardiac output and SVO2 monitoring
  • Centralized telemetry monitoring at the hospitalization floor
