Motor Disorders Clinic

The Parkinson's Disease and Motor Disorders Clinic is involved with Parkinson's disease and Parkinsonian syndromes as well as other Motor disorders such as dystonia, chorea and restless legs syndrome. The Clinic offers a holistic approach to patients:  Neurological Examination, Clinical evaluation based on international scales (MDS-UPDRS III, MoCa, H&Y, TSUI, BDI), laboratory and imaging assessment and finally diagnosis.

The patients’ therapeutic approach involves the administration of appropriate medication to treat the neurological symptoms, as well as problems from other systems – Cardiac, Gastrointestinal, Autonomic Nervous system. Moreover, the clinic offers therapeutic treatment of specific Motor Disorders with the administration of botulinum toxin injections. In the advanced stages of Parkinson's disease, the Clinic offers the possibility of technologically assisted treatments, such as the subcutaneous administration of apomorphine using an infusion pump, the levodopa gel intrajejunal injection pump, and the implantation of neurostimulators for electrical stimulation of deep brain structures. The Clinic offers the possibility of monitoring patients over time, given the long-term progression and chronic nature of the specific conditions. Our goal is to improve the patients’ quality of life and to better manage the disease at all stages.
