Nephrology
Every patient who trusts the Nephrology Clinic for his/her healthcare has access to one of the largest and most integrated nephrology centers in the country, staffed with experienced and highly qualified doctors and nurses. The Clinic consists of the Kidney Dialysis Unit, a modern center in which patients are prepared to undergo hemodialysis, the Nephrology Clinic and the Outpatient Units. On an annual basis, the Clinic offers its services to 200 patients who are on a dialysis program, as well as to more than 1,000 patients at any stage of chronic renal disease or related conditions, such as arterial hypertension and nephrolithiasis (kidney stones). With a continuous update and improvement of its services, the Department improves the quality of life of patients and their family members.
New Direct Contact Line with one of the largest Nephrology Clinic in Greece
In the Nephrology Clinic of Henry Dunant Hospital Center operates the Direct Contact Line (210-6972025). The line is answered directly by the experienced Nephrologists of the Clinic, who give answers to all questions related with any kind of renal disease. The Direct Contact Line operates daily (Monday-Friday) from 10.00 am until 2pm.

- Surgically created AVF communication (Fistulae); the clinic operates in three shifts, six days a week and is constantly on call

Scientific staff
The Nephrology Clinic is staffed by a team of leading scientists and experienced professionals who for the past 15 years harmoniously collaborate, providing outstanding and highly efficient services. More specifically the clinic employs:
- 5 nephrologists, specialized in all fields of nephrology under the guidance of the Clinic’s Director Mr. Spyridon Moutafis
- 27 specialized nurses with at least 10 years of experience in medical care of patients on dialysis who constantly update and enrich their knowledge through the “Continuing Education” Program held by Henry Dunant Hospital Center’s Nursing Department.
At the same time, our Clinic supports our patients, during hospitalization or hemodialysis, who require special care and treatment coming from any type of medical specialty (cardiologists, surgeons, etc.), while the collaborating departments of Henry Dunant Hospital Center fully cover the conduct of additional interventions such as
- renal biopsy
- dialysis line (central venous catheter) insertion (temporary or permanent) for hemodialysis treatment
- arteriovenous anastomosis creation (fistula or graft)

The Henry Dunant Hospital Center’s state-of-the-art Kidney Dialysis Unit has:
- 30 hemodialysis machines capable of applying all dialysis methods (classic hemodialysis, online hemodiafiltration)
- A variety of low and high flux hemodialysis filters (dialyzers)
- Unit for Hepatitis B patients
- State-of-the-art on line water treatment system
- Electric motorized hospital beds and wi fi connection in all rooms
- ISO 9001 certification for the Unit’s clinical and administrative operation
- Offers 24 hour support as well as immediate hemodialysis if judged necessary by the on call nephrologist
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (code blue) emergency procedure for acute cases
- Collaboration with the entire range of medical specialties as well as other specialties of the Henry Dunant Hospital Center, such as dieticians, physiotherapists, social workers, psychologists etc.
