We are particularly proud to announce that the Director of the 4th Oncology Clinic Mr. Ioannis Mountzios, was one of the three Greek physicians who participated in a large, global study, the results of which were published in one of the world-leading medical journals, The Lancet.
The study involved a group of patients with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer carrying a specific mutation (KRAS G12C), who received a molecular pill that inhibited the specific mutation. This treatment increased the patients’ progression-free survival and quality of life.
This is a significant advancement in the treatment of lung cancer, as patients’ outcomes are better by taking a pill at home instead of going to the Hospital every three weeks for intravenous chemotherapy.
The treatment is now officially approved by the European Medicines Agency.
Congratulations!
