With the certainty that artificial intelligence (AI) is a valuable tool in the field of medical care and in the ongoing evolution of healthcare systems, but that it is neither the doctor of the future nor a substitute for the human factor, Henry Dunant Hospital Center and the IMITHEA Group are already planning their next steps toward playing a leading role in a new era of rapid advancement and major challenges.

Alongside the ongoing enhancement of their equipment with cutting-edge technology, such as robotic surgical systems, the latest-generation PET scanner, and other AI-enabled technologies, Henry Dunant Hospital Center and the IMITHEA Group are launching a training program for their medical, nursing, and administrative staff on every aspect of the innovative changes accompanying the use of artificial intelligence.

As part of this initiative, at a special event held at the Henry Dunant Hospital Center Amphitheater, Dr. Shai Misan, one of the world's leading experts in the implementation of AI in healthcare systems and based in Milan, presented the key changes that have taken place and the benefits offered by the use of artificial intelligence in hospital care.

 Emphasizing that “the physician always retains ultimate control,” Dr Misan noted that AI is transforming every aspect of healthcare delivery by improving diagnostic accuracy, opening new possibilities for personalized care, and reducing administrative and bureaucratic burdens.

Dr. Misan stressed that the responsible use of artificial intelligence in everyday clinical practice will always remain a critical factor, but noted that medical documentation, early disease detection, targeted treatment, and strictly appropriate medication, as well as administrative automation—from managing appointments and hospitalizations to allocating resources and costing treatment plans—are undergoing radical changes. 

In his address at the event, Christos Megalou, CEO of Piraeus Financial Holdings, highlighted that artificial intelligence is creating unprecedented opportunities to make healthcare more efficient, accessible and economically sustainable, while expressing confidence that the IMITHEA Group will play a leading role in this new era.

For his part, Themos Charamis, Executive Chairman of the IMITHEA Group, described artificial intelligence as the greatest new challenge facing healthcare. “It is a powerful new tool for both physicians and patients, enabling more targeted and effective care.  "Henry Dunant Hospital Center and the IMITHEA Group will successfully rise to this challenge as well, always with quality and safety," was his message.
