A2 Men’s league is renewed. The presentation of the Elite League Henry Dunant—as it will be called from now on—took place on Wednesday afternoon (5/10) at the main press room of OAKA.
Georgios Skourtis (General Manager of the Henry Dunant Hospital Center): “It is a great pleasure and honor to be here and to present to you the renewed A2 league. This cooperation is the result of the very good relationship developed between us, as official sponsor of the national teams. We stood by the national team players, they welcomed us with open arms and we thank them. We are expanding this partnership by contributing to the A2 project. We’ll stand by all the athletes at the national level. This is only the beginning. We’ll be there for all the teams. Once again, a big thanks to the HBF and the board for their trust.”
Vangelis Liolios (President of HBF): “In an off-the-cuff statement I once made when my team got promoted from the B’ National League to A2, I said that A2 is really the top in Greece. The Basket League is something else entirely; a lot can be said about how to move forward. The new league is the capstone of our pyramid. Elite League means being at the top, there’s nothing elitist about it. We are very happy and proud of this partnership with the Henry Dunant Hospital, it will be long-lasting. In this respect, they embraced the Elite League and we are happy that they’ll be our main sponsor and that we’ll bear their name.”
Nikos Nikolopoulos (General Secretary of the HBF): “Our goal is to make A2 comparable to A1. As of this day, we forget A2; the new name is Elite League. In the effort to upgrade and elevate the league, our main sponsor and the name the league will bear will be the Henry Dunant Hospital Center”.
