The voluntary participation of Henry Dunant Hospital Center, the only private hospital in the NHS on-duty services, came to an end today with great success, with HDHC returning to its normal operation as a private clinic.
It was an immense effort, because of the disproportionate number of patients, doctors and staff, which often forced everyone to work beyond their limits.
In the approximately 2.5 months of its voluntary support to the NHS on-duty program, the emergency department of Henry Dunant Hospital Center - the first and only private hospital in the Greek history that joined the NHS on-duty program- treated more than 5,900 cases, while the hospitalizations exceeded 1,960 with an average hospital stay of 4.8 days.
The Management of Henry Dunant has already signed up to the list of Vaccination Centers and to the national battle of mass vaccinations.
On the occasion of the completion of its duty cycle, the President and CEO of Henry Dunant Hospital Center Mr. Themos Charamis, stated:
“One cycle has closed, but in a period of national and global trial, our support to the National Health System continues in any way deemed necessary. In light of the above, I must thank all the Doctors and staff of the Henry Dunant for their voluntary help, as well as the Government for trusting our hospital and its people. We are proud of our readiness and exceptional results. I would also like to thank the 1st Region of Attica, the EKAB ambulance service and all the departments of the Ministry of Health for the excellent cooperation and assistance. Completing 20 years of operation with the provision of high quality services, the Henry Dunant has once again proved that it has the experience and automation required to cope with even the most unusual and stressful situations. Moreover, our intensive preparation for the past two years to get the JCI internationally leading quality and safety accreditation became an additional advantage for Henry Dunant to play a leading role at the time of the pandemic.
It is noted that the on-duty program at Henry Dunant Hospital Center was covered in its entirety by specialized and highly experienced doctors, without the support of interns, a fact that adds value to their voluntary offer. Moreover, since the beginning of the pandemic, we had made available to the State, ICU and hospital beds, gradually increasing their number, in order to meet the needs of the NHS. We are also the first private hospital to send doctors and nurses, supporting critical specialties of the NHS hospitals in Northern Greece.
