Henry Dunant Hospital Center has established a modern unit for the treatment of urolithiasis that is equipped with the state-of-the-art extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy system MODULITH SLX – F2, which:
Has the deepest focal depth worldwide, allowing lithotripsy in overweight patients of up to 180 kilos.
Provides safe lithotripsy even in adolescents above the age of 14.
Has a large head surface that makes the whole procedure less painful.
The duration of the extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy varies from 30 to 40 minutes and the procedure is now performed without anesthesia, which would pose an additional burden to the patient.
POSSIBILITY OF ENDOUROLOGICAL TREATMENT
For those demanding cases than cannot be treated with extracorporeal lithotripsy, the Unit provides a comprehensive and complete interventional endourological treatment, such as:
- ureteroscopy and stone ablation with laser
- flexible ureteropyeloscopy (RIRS), percutaneous nephrolithotripsy (PCNL, ECIRS).
As part of the follow-up, the Unit features a specialized Clinic for monitoring and prevention of recurrence of lithiasis, while in special types of lithiasis (inflammatory lithiasis, metabolic lithiasis), where treatment requires the assistance of other specialties, the Lithotripsy Unit organizes a Medical Lithotripsy Council.
