6008 CAREsystem: Innovation in hemodialysis therapy

6008 CAREsystem: Innovation in hemodialysis therapy

The Kidney Dialysis Unit of the Henry Dunant Hospital Center is completely renewed with the acquisition of the highly advanced medical device worldwide, the 6008 CAREsystem by Fresenius Medical Care. This is the first and only KDU in a Greek hospital that uses the state-of-the-art 6008 CAREsystem. As a matter of fact, all thirty dialysis beds use this medical device.

Fresenius Medical Care's new generation 6008 CAREsystem medical devices utilize state-of-the-art technology to deliver advanced dialysis treatment at the highest level of care quality and safety, leaving more time for staff for direct patient care.

Innovation

The 6008 CAREsystem hemodialysis medical devices differ from all previous generation devices as they feature technologies and applications that appear for the first time in hemodialysis devices. These new applications include the following:

  • a system for calculating the flow of the vascular access (fistula) of the patient,
  • a system for calculating the amount of sodium (Na) received by or removed from the patient during hemodialysis.
  • a system for measuring the patient's hematocrit and hemoglobin during treatment,
  • a system of pre-connected lines in the form of a cassette, which can be used for all treatment methods (HD, HDF, HF, S/N),
  • consumables made from eco-friendly, biodegradable materials.

Safety

With the state-of-the-art 6008 CAREsystem, the risk of thrombosis during treatment is minimized, as the design of the lines is based on innovative technologies that minimize the retention of air in the circuit while offering at the same time a lower extracorporeal circulation volume.

The integrated circuit kinking detection system minimizes the risk of hemolysis while the VAM (Venous Access Monitoring) and VenAcc systems minimize the risk of external blood loss during treatment.

In addition, the fact that handling steps and critical contact points are reduced leads to a reduced risk of contamination and contributes to advanced safety for both patients and operators. This is also ensured by other innovative features such as blood reinfusion in a closed circuit and automatic connections to the integrated infusion ports.

Ergonomics

The 6008 CAREsystem offers advanced automation of all processes resulting in the reduction of handling steps. Healthcare professionals have more time for direct patient care.

At the same time, with the use of innovative applications (Advanced Fluid Management, Individual Temperature Control), the automatic optimization of the treatment is achieved, offering the best possible results for the patient and reducing symptoms during hemodialysis.

Consumables, which have a reddot design award for their design, allow easy switching of the treatment method as well as the provision of high volume hemodiafiltration (High Volume HDF).

Eco-friendly

In addition to advanced treatment options, the 6008 CAREsystem has been designed with an emphasis on environmental friendliness, supporting the rational and environmentally sustainable use of resources, by saving water, cleaning solutions and energy in the use phase, without compromising the quality of treatment.
