Henry Dunant Hospital Center has welcomed the first group of students from the Medical School of Charles University (Univerzita Karlova), launching a strategic partnership with the historic Czech university for the clinical training of its students.
The first training cycle includes five undergraduate students from Greece, who will complete a ten-week program at Henry Dunant in the departments of Internal Medicine and the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). In the next cycles of this year’s summer program, groups of students from the renowned university will also take part in clinical training in Surgery.
It should be noted that Charles University—founded in 1348, one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in Europe, with a decisive contribution to the development of Western civilization—has signed similar agreements outside the Czech Republic only with German hospitals. The collaboration with Henry Dunant, however, is not limited to students coming from Greece, but extends to any student or group of students from its Medical School who may wish to combine a visit to Athens with their clinical training. Students of Charles University from Italy have already registered to join upcoming training cycles at Henry Dunant.
At the reception of the first group of students, the Director of the Scientific Program, Professor Theodoros Vassilakopoulos, stated: “The selection of Henry Dunant Hospital Center by Charles University as a training site for its medical students confirms the dynamic growth of the hospital and highlights both the exceptionally high scientific and teaching standards of its physicians, as well as the excellence of its facilities and medical equipment, which—beyond the healthcare services provided— ensure high-level clinical training in modern medicine.”
