A new chapter has begun for robotic surgery in Northern Greece with the installation and operation of the advanced Da Vinci Xi surgical system at the Genesis General Clinic in Thessaloniki, as part of the strategic development plan of the new healthcare provider IMITHEA Group (Henry Dunant Hospital Center).
The Da Vinci Xi, a fourth-generation robotic system—the first and only of its kind in Northern Greece—provides powerful new tools to the clinic’s surgical teams and an added layer of safety for patients. The installation of this cutting-edge addition allows Genesis to assume a pivotal role in the wider Balkan region, significantly enhancing its surgical capabilities. At the same time, it marks the start of a new era for IMITHEA Group’s entire clinical network, with systematic upgrades in medical equipment, further strengthening of medical staff, and a continued focus on delivering the highest levels of quality and patient safety.
“The installation of the most advanced robotic surgery system at Genesis is an important investment for our Group in Thessaloniki. More importantly, it sends the message that we are creating the infrastructure needed with state-of-the-art technology, to secure a leading role for our clinical network—always placing patients at the center. Thessaloniki and Northern Greece now hold a powerful new tool in their hands, and with the operation of the Da Vinci Xi system, this is only the beginning...” emphasized Mr. Themos Charamis, President of IMITHEA Group.
The Da Vinci Xi system, featuring enhanced range of motion of its robotic instruments and ultra–high-definition 3D imaging, is designed for surgeries with millimeter-level precision and highly detailed recognition of anatomical structures. This technology expands the possibilities for performing a wide range of procedures using a minimally invasive and less traumatic approach. Equipped with upgraded surgical instruments, the new robotic platform enables specially trained and certified surgeons to achieve optimal surgical outcomes for patients—ensuring faster recovery, significant reduction in postoperative pain, and discreet incisions for optimal aesthetic results.
Robotic surgery delivers outstanding results across multiple specialties, including General Surgery, Urology, Gynecology, Thoracic Surgery, and ENT, among others. The installation of the Da Vinci Xi further strengthens the evolution of Genesis Clinic, the largest obstetrics and gynecology clinic in Northern Greece, into a fully modern general hospital. With this latest installation, the IMITHEA Group now operates two Da Vinci robotic systems in Northern Greece—the newest model at Genesis Clinic and the previous generation at the General Clinic—along with the exclusive MAKO robotic system for knee and hip arthroplasty at the Blue Cross Clinic in Thessaloniki. The Group has also committed to having two fully operational Da Vinci Xi systems in Thessaloniki by the end of the year.
